Armed Suspect Planning Trump Assassination Released on Bail – How Is This Even Possible?

The armed man arrested outside Donald Trump’s Coachella Valley rally — who declared his intention to assassinate former President Trump — has already been released on bail.

The suspect, Vem Miller, was intercepted by Riverside County police just a mile from the rally, armed with a loaded shotgun, a handgun, and a high-capacity magazine.

According to Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, this could have been the third attempt on Trump’s life.

The Long Beach Press Telegram reports that Miller was released on $5,000 bail with a court date on January 2, 2025 and that the Secret Service said they are aware of the arrest.

Given the circumstances, the most outrageous part of this situation isn’t just the fact that Miller was caught so close to the event with weapons and a fake entry pass — it’s that he was allowed to walk free almost immediately after posting a mere $5,000 bail.

How is this even possible?

The decision to grant bail for a man allegedly plotting a presidential assassination makes a mockery of the justice system. Armed, dangerous, and carrying false credentials, Miller was caught red-handed.

The gravity of the situation—an armed man with a loaded shotgun and an apparent plan to bypass security and harm Trump — should have made him a high-level threat, warranting a much harsher response.

This isn’t just a case of a man breaking the law. This is about public safety at the highest level. The suspect, with ties to an anti-government organization, was intercepted mere moments from a national tragedy.

Sheriff Bianco made it clear: “We probably stopped another assassination attempt.”

Press release:

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 4:59 p.m., deputies assigned to former President Donald Trump’s rally in the Coachella Valley contacted the driver of a black SUV at a checkpoint at the intersection of Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive. The male driver, identified as Vem Miller, a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was found to be illegally in possession of a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine. Miller was taken into custody without incident and later booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center for possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine. This incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to call Deputy Coronado at the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station by calling (760) 836–1600.

Yet somehow, within hours of his arrest, Miller was allowed to return to the streets with barely a slap on the wrist. This absurdity not only puts the public at risk but sets a dangerous precedent about how serious threats to political figures are treated.

If a potential assassination attempt on a former U.S. president isn’t enough to keep someone behind bars, what does it take?

The failure to treat the situation with the severity it deserves raises serious questions about the priorities of the Biden justice system.
