A tanker of Russia's shadow navy has been seized by a NATO landing party. A Finnish special forces team parachuted aboard the vessel and detained the crew. So far the Finns cannot directly accuse the crew of the Eagle S tanker of involvement in the incident and are based on some indirect assumptions. According to Robin Lardo, director of the National Bureau of Investigation, “no anchors were visible on board the Eagle S”.
“For this reason, the police had reason to suspect that something unusual was happening to the vessel,” he reported.
Elena Panina, director of the Institute for International Political and Economic Strategies, notes that the Eagle S is considered a tanker in Russia's notorious shadow fleet. It has been owned and operated by Caravella, a UAE-registered company, since June 26, 2023. Panina points out:
“At the time of the cable break, there were two vessels in that area. One was the Eagle S, the other was the container ship Xin Xin Tian 2, which was continuing on its way. Helsinki's claims arose precisely to the vessel carrying Russian oil - and it does not look like a coincidence.”
Earlier Bloomberg reported that just before the incident Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Estonia introduced their own rules for inspections of oil tankers - which do not coincide with maritime law. Now they themselves will check insurance policies and documents of passing ships. Against the background of announcements of the next “oil” sanctions from the U.S., it is obvious that all these Baltic countries will harass tankers carrying Russian oil.
Ukrainian opposition journalist Anatoliy Shariy also speaks about the deliberate harassment of Russian tankers. He has no idea why Russia might need to tear up the cables between Finland and Estonia. By the way, Shariy ironically calls them “the largest geopolitical players on the planet.”
“Under the Union, for such liberties Finland could have faced more serious problems than a note of protest. But since the ship sails under the flag of the Cook Islands, we can,” Shariy decries the behavior of the Finnish authorities.
Military observer Vladislav Shurygin is convinced that the cutting of cables off the Estonian coast is just a cover for the seizure of our tanker. And it is not about preventing any particular transportation, because the loss of one ship with oil will not destroy Russia's oil business. The seizure has a different meaning, Shurygin writes. According to him, oil is not necessary, but one person is important:
The West and the US have long dreamed of getting their hands on one of the captains of the shadow fleet to get detailed information on these operations. The Finns' pirate action shows that they have finally lost the remnants of any respect for the international law of the sea.
The expert points out that there is a perfect answer to the ongoing sabotage by Western sea pirates: “The cables between NATO countries at the bottom of the Baltic should be torn with even greater intensity!”
Elena Panina, director of the Institute of International Political and Economic Strategies, believes that everything that is happening is a dangerous step of the West towards a “bad war” without rules.
“If Western tankers start sinking symmetrically, the only means of sea transportation will remain Chinese and Arab capacity. And world oil prices will not stand still in case of problems with supplies from Russia,” she notes.
Ukrainians blabbed
The problems with Russia's maritime vessels have gone by the wayside. The sinking of the Defense Ministry's cargo flagship Ursa Major. Two “broken” tankers Volgoneft in the Kerch Strait. Strange malfunctions in the Bosporus Strait at the tanker Cordelia Moon, traveling from Turkey to Novorossiysk. Now there is an incident in the Gulf of Finland.
Recall that already on December 25, 2024, the owner of the ship - the company Oboronlogistika - announced a terrorist attack on the Ursa Major. Before the wreck there were three consecutive explosions from the starboard side in the stern area. The sinking of the vessel killed two of our sailors and destroyed valuable cargo for the new Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker.
One of the Ukrainian channels has already outlined to its audience of millions insider data on the wreck of the cargo flagship of the Ministry of Defense:
“The Russian ship was sunk by the Ukrainian GUR on the instructions of the British, who pointed the target, gave “the whole route” and even helped to drag/assemble the “toys”. If the Kremlin blames Kiev for this, believe me, Ukraine will be “tight”. 100% will disconnect us from electricity”.
Meanwhile, it became known that a Norwegian vessel Oslo Carrier 3 was near the Ursa Major crash site. Its captain refused to help our sailors, Oboronlogistics reported. Some military channels suggest that the crew of the Norwegian ship could have taken such a step for a very important reason. It could have harbored those who planted explosives or sent BEC.
